Radhakrishna Drustihina Vidyalaya is a school for the Blind . It is situated at Karlakhaman, PO-Lathikata-770037 Dist-Sundergarh, Odisha India. It is located in tribal area of Sundergarh district in Odisha. A Tribal area 25 km away from Rourkela (Steel city of Odisha).
School History
Radhakrishna Drustihina Vidyalaya a residential school for the blind was started in the year 1997 with a vision to render education to the visually challenged children from the tribal and weaker sections of the society. The objective of the school is to impart education and side by side create facilities for vocational education to make the students self-dependent and complete citizen with self-respect in the society. Initially the school was started with Seven students in a cottage. The tribal area of Odisha (Sundergarh) till today, having blind children, whose parents do not want to send their children to school. So, the primary aims of the school is also to create awareness by door to door visit and to make their parents understand to send their children to school. And now the students strength reached to forty (each year avg 4 students pass out the Odisha Board Exam and take admission in colleges.
Education
Radhakrishna Drustihina Vidyalaya is a school for the blind. Teaching is done in Braille coding system running from class I to class X. Class I to class VIII is run in its own school premises, but class IX, class X is taught in general Govt school , and all the students remain in our hostel, Here we provide free education, food, accommodation and all hostel facilities , like clothing & health care to all inmates. Also we help them for further education to continue classes, training etc.
School Infrastructure
Radhakrishna Drustihina Vidyalaya was started in small cottage. Today due to help by the donors and well wishers , the school is having its own building.

Six number of class rooms for the students of class I to class VIII. TV and Audio system for education. Maximum teaching and learning materials are used to teach the blind students, such as Braille slate, ( math board, interposing ) six board, Abacus Braille geometry tools, brailler typewriter, ABRAR , tactile atlas etc. Trained teachers and care takers are engaged for the students.

Accommodation, food, dress, health care is provided to the students (free) separate hostel for girls & boys are provided. Toilets, drinking water and all other hostel facilities are provided.
Activities
The students are given opportunities for sports, music. Music is taught to the students having separate music classes. Students committee is formed to train them for their future responsibility.

With the advancements of technologies computers have become essential part of the society. Also computer is the most important method for the persons with vision impairment. The blind students undergo computer training which help in higher education reading and writing.
